Bug Report FIX - Game FPS Drops When In Fullscreen

Hello everyone,

So today, I've been ripping my hair out because I've been trying to setup my live stream on OBS Studio. Every time I started up a game in full-screen mode and opened up OBS, my in game FPS would drop to the point where my game-play was terrible and unplayable and I haven't even hit 'Start Streaming' at this point. A lot of threads I've read started out by asking about specs, which I knew I didn't have a problem with since I have;
CPU - Intel i7 5960x
GPU - GTX 1080ti
32g of DDR4

Anyways, I've tried everything from lowing the resolution on my OBS to even thinking my 4k monitor was the issue on the FPS drops and NOTHING worked.

Here's my solution I found and I can finally rest easy knowing my games aren't dropping frames anymore from OBS Studio. Notice how I have a GTX 1080, when you have this, you'll also have a program called 'NVIDIA GeForce Experience' - This is the problem. There's a program that's interfering with OBS and that's 'Shadowplay'. Disable this and you're golden!!

To disable Shadowplay, open up GeForce Experience, click on the settings tab that's at the top right (the gear) and under About and Language, you'll find Share. Disable this and you've turned off Shadowplay! You'll no longer have OBS and this other recording software competing against each other and you'll games will run smoothly.

Hope this helped!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Please note to anyone trying this that it is not a catch-all fix. What works for one person may not work for another!

Every App, that's trying to access the framebuffer, can cause such problems (especially, when you combine multiple of those).
Disable Windows GameDVR, Shadowplay, MSI Afterburner (or at least the RTSS Server), for best OBS perfomance.
I would even recommend to disable Overlays like Steam and FRAPS.
