First time OBS user / total noob. Dropping FPS and recording is choppy

I'm only using OBS to record, not to stream. I have a very powerful computer setup, but my recording and fps is sub-par.

CPU: i9 10850l
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3080
RAM: 32GB

1. Using Windows Update, update to Windows 10 2004 or 20H2 if available per https://obsproject.com/blog/five-simple-tips-for-new-streamers
2. One of your audio devices has a sample rate that doesn't match the rest. This can result in audio drift over time or sound distortion. Check your audio devices in Windows settings (both Playback and Recording) and ensure the Default Format (under Advanced) is consistent. 48000 Hz is recommended.
OBS Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
Headphones (Xbox Controller): 48000 Hz
Headset Microphone (Xbox Controller): 24000 Hz
3. Run OBS as Admin. Right click on short cut, properties, advanced, check box, ok, apply, ok
4. OBS, settings, output, recording, uncheck psycho visual tuning, apply, ok
5. Cap your games at 119 or 120 FPS (whatever your monitor is).

Hey, can’t help you with your problem, but...let’s stick together and stay InTouch to help each other out. I am a new OBS User as well. Kind of thrown into a OBS Project and told to make things work.

Have you taken any Zoom sessions live with OBS yet?
