Firestick connection

Hi,
I followed online videos to use OBS in order to plug my firestick into my macbook pro, however all I see is a black screen.
Never used OBS before so no idea what I'm doing, in the online videos the screen pops right up.

just as an update to remove the obvious, I reset the firestick and the OBS screen shows coloured bars as it resets then shows Fire TV as if it is loading but then the screen remains black
