Fetch data from xml

I have a few xml sources i'd like to get data from and use them in OBS. Right now, theres only an option to add a text file as source, and any xml file will be displayed with all its ugly tags.
Im not sure how this should be implemented to encourage a wide range of uses. Pluging or something native? Should xml just be a source like text or should it be used for more than that?

I don't think that many users would ever need xml input in OBS. The only use I can think of right now would be something like the "now playing" functionality for music, but even that is currently implemented with all sorts of 3rd party applications and plain text.
