Feed freezes on camera with two scenes

We have three cameras feeding into OBS. One of the three cameras has two scenes and the other two cameras only have one scene. The camera that has two scenes freezes on the OBS software while the video camera screen continues to show as if it were live. All camera drivers are up to date. I have checked the box to “deactivate when not using” for each camera and scene. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. We have checked the USB connections. We are running Windows 10 on a laptop. We also live feed to FB and record for playback on FB. We use this once a week for streaming Masses at Church. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you using 'add existing' when adding the camera to the second scene? If you're adding an entirely new Video Capture Device source instead of using the existing one, you'll run into problems as you describe. Delete the second VCD from the second scene, add->VCD->add existing and select the one you created in the first scene.

This is because video devices generally can only be used by one program at a time, and each individual VCD counts as a separate 'program'. So when you swap from Scene 1 with VCD1 pointing at camera 1 to Scene 2 with VCD2 pointing at camera 1, it's already (still) in use by Scene 1 as it transitions out. Just reusing VCD1 in Scene 2 will fix the problem.

I am away from the church now but will try this later today. Thank you for the suggestion, I will let you know how it works out.
