Hello
This is an attempt to beautify the dreaded black borders when capturing a native resolution that is not 16:9 for services that require it, without breaking the aspect ratio of the game capture or over stretching.
For the sake of simplicity we will say we are using the OBS default settings for Twitch 720 (16:9) and a Game Capture at the monitor native resolution 1920x1200 (16:10)
The Game Capture is down scaled using the edit source functions so that the full 1200 pixel height fits into the 19:9 frame. It is then centred using the options provided. (see image 001) This gets all our game in view with no distortion but leaves us black borders at the sides.
2x Inner Window > Sub Region Captures of the game window (in this case 106 x 1200 pixels each, one from each side of the window ) are added to the scene. (image 002 & 003)
If the option were available it would be desirable to have mirror/flip check boxes in the Window Capture source options (like in Video Capture source options).
This would fill the black borders with a mirrored edges of the game screen for viewers.
Combine this with some blur effect and we have a very simple and elegant solution to one of the bug bears of many streamers.
Unfortunately I know nothing of programming but I suspect this would be easy to implement as the feature is already there for another capture method.
Anyone have the ability to experiment with this?
Thanks
Dunravin
