Feature Request - Local Recording Ability

This is the one thing I'm hoping for most from OBS. I not only stream, but record my footage. At the moment, my recordings are poor because my internet prevents me from having a good bitrate. My computer itself is powerful and capable, though, and so I'd really love to see something like Xsplit's local recording feature, where both the stream and local recording have separate encoding/quality settings.

He's not asking how to make local recordings. He's asking how to make a local recording at a different quality from what he is streaming at.

Unfortunately that is not available yet in OBS, but it is an often-requested feature and is planned. For now, you can run 2 instances of OBS by adding the "-multi" flag to your OBS shortcut, which will let you run 2 at once.

Well, if you have a Sandy/Ivy/Haswell processor, you can also potentially make use of the QuickSync encoder. This will greatly reduce the strain introduced by having to encode twice, but QSV needs more bitrate for the same quality level.
