I always confuse both button when doing fast only to end up with no recording because I started Virtual Camera instead of Recording.
Here a quick sugestion fix that shouldn't be hard to implement.
When recording, the Start Recording button background should turn RED (example)
when using Virtual camera the button background should turn BLUE (example)
this is easy to implement because the logic is already there, the button caption change / toggle when using theses button.
