Failure to record

Hi, I am elderly and new to OBS Studio so please nothing hi-tech. Following an excellent tutorial I managed to convert four old VHS tapes to digital on my laptop. However it has stopped recording and the canvass states 'no signal'. When trying to record the Audio Mixer activates but only very faint sound is recorded, no video. I have uninstalled OBS Studio, deleted all files I could find which mention OBS, turned off the laptop for over a minute and re-installed OBS. The new installation still shows all the changes I previously made in settings etc (such as picture format) and still nothing works. What is my problem please? Many thanks.

Hi, you are looking in the wrong spot. OBS doesn't have anything that displays "no signal" this is coming from your capture device....it seems the issue is with that and not OBS.
