Bug Report failed with 0x2 - outdated driver? while driver is up to date.

So trying out nvenc on my optimus laptop, the log says nvenc is available but when trying to preview or record I still get
"Opening NVENC failed! You need at least nvidia driver version 334.89 for NVENC encoding" followed by "Encoder initialization failed!". the nvidia control panel says that my driver version is 353.62. See the log below for more info.

I've set obs to run on my nvidia card and tried running it as administrator. the nvidia card is also set under settings -> video. Not sure if this is an actual bug or not.

You probably have the same issue has I, although OBS says that you have NVENC, our GPU doesn't have it. So just use the intel or X264 codec.
By the way, which laptop are you using?

Yep, I do use QuickSync to record but the load is noticeable increased on my Nvidia dGPU when I do. Same with x264, load increases about 2x. Besides that I think QS is amazing. This was just another step to combat the weird microstutter I sometimes get in Don't Starve, but now I think I have to conclude it's just the game's engine.

What I know about NVENC is that is has some fancy buffer copy functions that potentially not cause the 2x jump in dGPU usage from recording. And damn it Nvidia we all know the these cards can do NVENC perfectly fine. Like older drivers could even do Shadowplay on a 610m.. Give us access already greedy bastards.

As for my laptop. I got the Acer Aspire E5-572G because I could get it really cheap. Just now I have replaced the screen with a FHD one and replaced the CPU with a 4700MQ. Oh and added another stick of 8GB ram that I had laying around.

Wow I also bought a e5-571g, i5-4210u. The first time I did a clean install of the nvidia drivers I could toggle on the shadow play, but couldn't record anything
