Hello, I'd like to start making content, specifically recording reaction videos to content on YouTube, as well as recording and streaming games.
I've honestly been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what the best/most convenient setup looks like. Here is my current log file: https://obsproject.com/logs/yOcCjNY49USEB0pL
For reaction content I've decided that there's anyhow no point in recording in an ultrawide aspect ratio nor is there any point in having HDR on. So I've decided to just change my screen's resolution to 2560x1440 and to just turn off HDR, here I have zero issues whatsoever and I think I can go ahead with recording my first video. Though it is a bit of a hassle that I'm going to have to change my resolution manually like this every time I want to record a new video. Furthermore, this leads to the second and more pressing problem, that being:
How I would also like to be able to record & stream the games I want to play. It would suck having to give up ultrawide & HDR, so far from my own research I've found some decent compromises for ultrawide (such as this video: https://youtu.be/wIxWwxncnVE?si=NmhWLjAz1Awl1IL1) where I keep my base and output resolutions on 2560x1440, this allows me to keep my game at the 'top' of the screen while having a black bar at the bottom which I can use to put my webcam and other overlays such as chat, I like this idea.
Now comes the issue of HDR, I don't really care about my content itself being in HDR, I know that Twitch doesn't support it and YouTube videos can take ages until the HDR version of the video is actually live. Based on my own searching, I've understood that to make this work I have to change my colour format to P010 and colour space to Rec. 2100, and to also change the colour space to Rec. 2100 in my game capture properties, and finally the encoder should be HEVC. Now I'm stumped because even after doing all of this and trying to record some footage from a game, it comes out all washed out/desaturated.
Finally, I'd like to know how I can smoothly switch between my 'reaction' setup and 'gaming' setup, this is because on the reaction setup I'm going to have HDR off and on the gaming setup it will be on, which means the aforementioned settings such as colour format, space, etc. have to be different on the reaction setup and on the gaming setup. My guess is this can be achieved using profiles and/or scenes but I'm honestly lost here. Furthermore, if anyone has any suggestions for recording reaction videos without having to manually change the resolution of my screen, I'd appreciate that.
All of this got me thinking that surely, there must be content creators out there who use an ultrawide monitor and play their games in HDR, so there must be a reasonable way to do this! xD
