Question / Help FaceRig + OBS + OBS Again

Okay, I'm trying to actually do two things in one. First, I have 2 OBS running at the same time: OBS1 to capture FaceRig and OBS2 to capture FaceCam (so that I have two files and not have Facecam baked into Gameplay/Face Rig). The problem I'm running into is that I can't seem to get my Webcam to show up in OBS if I have it active inside of FaceRig. It's an either/or situation.

So, does anyone have experience with this type of setup for FaceRig/OBS1/OBS2? What are the alternative setups to making this work?

Thanks in advance.

Install the NDI module for both instances of OBS, and add an NDI filter to the camera in one instance, and add that as a source in the second.

It is usual for video device drivers to be exclusive. The camera can't be active for both instances at once.

Thanks for the help Narcogen. But I have no idea what an NDI module and filter is or how to go about doing what you're asking me to do.

Okay, having read more on NDI, I'm seeing that this is really for a 2 PC setup right? I'm running OBS1 and OBS2 on the same PC as I don't have a 2nd PC. So, I'm guessing what I'm trying to do won't work with a single PC setup then?

Nope, it'll just "network" internally. It's the same as giving a controller an IP address for gyro controls, if you're familiar with emulators like Citra or Cemu

Edit: Now, alternatively, you could do something a little janky with (I think?) only one instance of OBS:

Install VirtualCam plugin (https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-virtualcam.71741/), set your actual webcam as a source and then add the virtualcam filter to it. That way you have the "clean" feed being recorded directly by OBS, and then passed along to the system as a separate webcam. Then you should be able to select "OBS-Camera" in FaceRig and record that feed with the same single instance just as you would normally.
