Question / Help Facecam/Regular Playtime Freezes GameCapture HD60 S

Hey all,

With the release of Resident Evil 7 this week I decided I wanted to try streaming again. I've had a GameCapture HD for years and enjoyed using it, but the main issue I had with it was that I couldn't use a facecam in OBS with it, because the feed was out of sync and in the old version of OBS the buffering tool didn't work to create a delay, and I didn't see another way to do it.

So the game came out and I decided to look and see if there were any updates to the issue, and hooray! OBS Studio has been released and has a filter for delay that works perfectly! So once I got all my streaming set up on Tuesday I was able to go at it for about 3 hours before I was way too stressed out to keep playing the game.

I was so excited about OBS Studio however that I decided to invest in a new GameCapture HD60 S so that I could:

1. Stream in 1080p 60fps glory.
2. Not have to fiddle so much with delay (since it advertises no delay)

It arrived today and when I first set it up I was very happy and satisfied with the results. Seemed pretty painless as far as product transitions go and off I went.... for about 2 minutes, and then I noticed the gamecapture stream had crashed, though the facecam was still working.

I restarted and went back to playing... for about 2 minutes, and then the same issue persisted. I removed the source and re-added it, no dice. I uninstalled all the drivers and software, reinstalled, etc (all detailed in this thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/elgato-hd60-pro-capture-issue.44159/page-3) and that didn't work either. I decided to cut OBS out of the equation and the Gamecapture software seemed to work just fine. That is until I tried to add my facecam. Then it immediately froze. I thought it must be a fluke, so I did it 3 more times, and received the same behavior every time.

I'm working on an iMac so I figured I'd try switching over to the OS X side, but then I remembered the Gamecapture drivers aren't available for whatever reason so OBS can't use them on the OS X side.... grr. I google'd and found a "solution" to the problem using Window Capture etc etc, but the problem with that is the software doesn't display 60fps (even though it records in it) so I can't use that to stream.

I finally switched back to windows and decided to try running the gamecapture in OBS by itself...... I played this way for about 10 minutes with no crashes. Then I added a cam, and it crashed about 30 seconds later. I then repeated this behavior, except I opened a separate OBS session specifically for the cam. Same results. I even tried using the legacy OBS for the cam instead. Same results.

I won't discount that it *could* be something other than the cam that is causing the issue, and perhaps the cam is just accelerating to that point more quickly. I've left the GameCapture running in OBS (idle) for about 30 minutes now and it just now froze again (no cam up). I'm out of ideas at this point though.

If I need to post this over on the Elgato forums instead I'm happy to do that. I've seen some Elgato employees helping out over here in the past though and most of the troubleshooting/problem issues I've found that have actually been helpful have been over here, so I figured I'd start here.

The specs I'm running are as follows:

Intel Core i7 3.50GHz Quad-Core
32 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M
Windows 10/OS X El Capitan
GameCapture HD60 S

I'm happy to provide any other information the community/developers believe would be useful. I'm going to include a log file from my most recent session that froze below. Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
Thanks for taking the time to read my explanation/cry for help, and let me know of any suggestions!

On a whim I decided to test using 720p output with 60fps (also supported by the GameCapture HD I had previously), and I was able to stream for about 40 minutes with no hiccups (with a cam). So at least that is working. I obviously would like to use the product as advertised though, since I have USB 3.0 ports and a processor/memory that should be more than good enough for this. :)
