The issue I had was NOT a handshake issue, as far as I could tell. The video OBS from appearing Facebook's /live/producer preview window indicates the OBS feed is exactly as it should be.
Rather, simply a FB UI design change, an undocumented change, or similar (from my view, a Facebook bug... but..).
For us, Scheduled Live Videos are auto-starting as expected for last couple of weeks, following the process I listed in other thread.
In my opinion, you are using a free service, with all the caveats that entails. And all CDNs (YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, etc) all have their own idiosyncrasies. pick your poison..
For use, our long-standing communication channel has been Facebook, so switching would be problematic at best, so it is much easier/better to simply figure out FB as they update their system (like broad allowance of 1080p streaming vs 720p 2 years ago)
Are you in a position to run a test stream this week? you could direct message me, and we could do a share screen web conference and walk through troubleshooting
For others looking at this, the other thread has the following
- May 9, 2022#5
What I did do differently
- within a Scheduled Event, for last couple of months (??), I went to View Event (
- previously stayed in /Live/Producer, but late last year? ish, with FB UI change, going to Scheduled event page instead, which had button for Setup Live Video, and that button changed when [scheduled] auto start happened.
- And that auto-start hasn't been working of late)
- - So yesterday [May 8], instead of doing a test steam (with non-persistent stream key) for about 1 minute, approx 90 minutes before scheduled start, this time I did NOT do the early 'check' [as I've done for last 2 years]
- then instead of going to View Event, I went to the Edit page (in /Live/Producer).. and just sat there.[new interface] And auto-start took place approx 20 seconds after scheduled start time (which has been relatively consistent for last 2 years)
The new interface, shows 3 radio buttons (upper left) with 3rd being auto-start (or Go Live, or something like that). With our normal prep, and starting the stream in advance as required for years, the first 2 radio check boxes fill themselves in green. So... something to look for?
I may take screen shots this upcoming weekend to document our process (for other volunteers)
