Question / Help EXTREMELY Choppy Recording at 1080p/60fps.

SPECS:
CPU - AMD FX 6300 Black Edition
GPU - MSi GTX 960 2GB
RAM - 8GB Fury X
HDD - 1TB
Mobo - GA-970A-UD3P

PROBLEM:
I have recently downloaded OBS to do a little bit of recording, I played around with the settings, but they aren't too high. I went into a game and the regular gameplay had dropped dramatically in framerate. I went to see the recording and it was lagging for about 3 seconds sometimes. My preset is at "High Quality" and I checked with the OBS settings estimator too.
I can't use ShadowPlay because there is a red line through the icon, so what should I do?

That CPU will not easily do 1080p60 for you, it's too slow.

You can try NVENC in OBS Studio, this should work fine on a GTX 960.
Make sure no other applications are using NVENC/ShadowPlay at the same time (e.g. Plays.tv, Overwolf Replay etc.).

you may try:
x264 low cpu from simple mode output
make sure you use vsync in game!!!

shadowplay may be your best bet currently, nvenc in obs performs a bit worse due to lack of some capture methods
