External cameras not connecting to MacBook pro

I’m attempting to connect two external hdmi cameras to a Roland V-1HD switcher, and then usb-a cable to a multiport into my MacBook. The MacBook recognizes the switcher when it is connected and powered on, but in OBS it does not recognize any external video capture devices. The only camera It is detecting is the built in FaceTime camera. What am I missing?

I would first try to connect one camera to the computer and see if it is recognized. If you dont have a separate Cam Link, then try connecting the switcher directly to the computer and see if the switcher is recognized. Also, make sure your USB cable is not a charging only cable
