Question / Help Every time I try to link a video capture device the screen is green.

Hi there!

I'm using obs studios and was wondering how I could fix this green screen that keeps showing up whenever I try to link a wepcam or capture card. I'm using an elgato hd60 and it only records the audio of the thing it's capturing. I'm capturing Wii U gameplay, but whenever I try to add the elgatohd 60 to the scene the green screen shows up; same with the webcam. Anything that could fix this issue? Is it a problem with OBS studios or the devices I'm using? Thank you in advance and if you need anymore info just ask. :D

Manually configure the important settings like resolution and frame rate to values supported by those devices. For example make sure the resolution for the Elgato source matches the resolution that it's receiving from the device being captured.

I don't exactly know where to check that kind of stuff.
Where would I go to fix it and how can I compare them?

This is my obs studio video settings: http://imgur.com/a/pyRsU

What can I change to make them match?

Configure the values in the properties window for the video capture device sources you've added. It's in your screenshots, just double-click on the source to open the properties for it.

Do I customize the properties or leave them at default? Every time I try to match the resolution the green screen continues to show up. I've lowered the output to 640x480 at 30fps and have made the video settings in OBS studios match this. There's still audio coming out, just not video

Yes, you should customize the properties.

Yes, you should customize the properties.

It still hasn't worked. I may be missing something but I can't figure out what's causing the green screen to appear.

These are the settings I currently have on the Video Capture device page: http://imgur.com/a/rT1lk
And these are my elgato settings: http://imgur.com/a/UTsa2
Also these are the settings on my obs: http://imgur.com/a/JdUYe

Am I missing anything? Thank you for being patient with me, it is obvious I don't have much experience with this type of software.

Does it work in the Elgato software? Are you trying to run the Elgato software at the same time? What resolution is your Wii U set to output?

Yes it does. No it is closed at the moment. It's set to output 720p

Could you try setting the options in the first two screenshots (OBS source properties and Elgato software properties) to 720x480?

If everything is already set to 1280x720 then try installing/reinstalling the latest Elgato drivers. Otherwise I'm out of ideas at the moment.

Hey I know this is from many years ago but I had an issue like this recently. Had to go into the system settings on the gaming console (now a ps5) and turn off the HDCP in the HDMI section under system settings. If anyone has this problem try that.
