Whenever trying to record, I get the error message "Failed to start recording. Starting the output failed, please check the log for details.." etc,

I have the latest drivers installed according to Windows Update. I also cleared out anything using up significant memory. Any help resolving this issue is much appreciated.

I have the same problem, it was occurring with 21.1.0, and now even after updating to 22.0.2. All I want to do is test my stream settings locally, even though I have basically no following on my channel and it wouldn't matter anyways. I will attach the layest log from my test I did, and it streams just fine, and I have it set up to record when streaming, so I can take the stream and leave it on my Twitch channel, and upload the video to my YouTube. I'm currently using a Dell Inspiron 1545 with an Intel Pentium II CPU and an Intel Express Chipset Family Series 4, as you might see in the log as well

The log references something about an FFmpeg Muxer, but I don't have FFmpeg in my Muxer settings, wth?

@RapRat your PC/Laptop does not have the power to record or stream video. Not even remotely.
I know that, but it's the only system I currently have access to until I'm able to build a streaming box out of scrapped parts from other PCs I'm getting from a friend of mine for free

You don't understand. Trying to stream or record with that machine is like trying to light the Supercup arena with a flashlight. You need somewhat decent hardware to record and encode live video.
Your problem with saving the video file is probably due to the ransomware protection from Windows blocking write access. You have to allow OBS to write to the documents folders, or you have to choose a directory outside your documents folders.

@koala Like I said, it's the only machine I have access to until I can build one, so I don't have much of a choice, but good thing I postponed my first episode by a month, so that should give me some time to get the system done
