Question / Help Error Initializing Microphone audio [resolved]

Hi there. I got a new Snowball Blue Microphone for Christmas. I wanted to test it out today, and the first thing I went to try it on was OBS. I tried to do a local recording, rather then live streaming the test, and the first thing that popped up when I tried to local record was an error message reading, "An error occured initializing microphone audio - it may not be not plugged in, or another application could be using it in exclusive mode." After doing a little bit of searching, I found the thread on the forums here, guiding me to control panel -> Sound -> Selecting the microphone and going to properties, and unchecking "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device." I know that I'm doing it to the proper devices, as it is the only enabled microphone on my computer right now, and it works perfectly in an VOIP application I've tried. Thanks for the help!

EDIT: Ok, I just figured out the problem: I went to settings in OBS, and went to audio, and under "Microphone/Auxilary Audio Device", nothing was selected. I selected "Microphone (BlueSnowball)", and it started right up as normal. Hopefully someone can find this post and get some use out of it!

I wanted to add to this post because I had a similar problem. Everything was working fine until I installed the Hauppauge Capture software recently. That software was/is pretty bad and I was having trouble even selecting my microphone from time to time. Well I gave up on that. However, when I went to use OBS again, it gave me the error regarding the initialization of the microphone. The solution that worked for me was to reinstall my audio drivers. It is possible that I was using Windows audio drivers rather than manufacturers drivers since I just did a fresh install. After the drivers were installed, I was able to select my front mic jack as my primary microphone source and everything appears to be fine. Hopefully this post helps someone as well!
