Question / Help Endlessly Repeating Video Stream

I get an endless Escher-esque video stream that's basically a video in a video in a video, et c. I just want one stream of video, please, and i'm not sure how to get it to stop recording the recording.

Perfectly normal if you are capturing the OBS window.

i'm trying to stream a game (i have the OBS window minimized) and i hear the music from the game stop about 12 times, so i'm not sure what's up. could it be that i had it on display stream as opposed to window stream?
