Question / Help Encoding Problem!

Hi, I'm using a imac running windows in bootcamp, and am wondering if this causes a problem in obs?

I get dropped frames and the "high encoding cpu usage" when recording local or streaming. at 1080/30 or 720/30 even though obs is only using like 20-30% cpu..

Specs: i7-4771, 3.5GHz, 24GB ram.

Internet: 50gb Download, 10gb Upload

Log for 720/30: https://gist.github.com/420c7577594bb7c3f486 (i know the preset is faster, i also get it in the default veryfast)

Log for 1080/30: https://gist.github.com/b00abc622215af663773

00:57:49: Total frames encoded: 11175, total frames duplicated: 1681 (15.04%)
00:57:49: Number of frames skipped due to encoder lag: 1366 (12.22%)
00:57:49: Total frames rendered: 9790, number of late frames: 58 (0.59%) (it's okay for some frames to be late)

This means that your computer isn't good enough to do what its doing and capture on Faster preset at the same time. Are you gaming on this computer or just using it to do encoding? Anyways you will have to change it to Very Fast at the least, you need that duplicated frames percentage to be less than 1%, and its over 15% right now. An i7-4771 should perform much better than this, especially as a dedicated capture computer, no idea what the impact running bootcamp on a Mac might be though.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I'm running this just to capture xbox one/ps4 gameplay through an elgato HD60.. I thought my cpu shoulda been good enough so maybe bootcamp does impact it in some way..

What are you recording the footage to? A slow HDD can also result in high-CPU false positives; found that out the hard way when trying to record to a USB thumbstick, to reduce hard drive wear.

Its recording to my internal HD. Which is a 1TB fusion drive, of that 200Gb is partitioned for bootcamp.
