Question / Help Encoding error while streaming

Just tried recording some gameplay, not streaming and previously it was throwing out the same error. I'v disabled game mode in windows and running obs with administrator and that seems to have fixed the problem for recording at least. Will try streaming later, to see what happens. Still on the same version, so 24.03, have not switched yet.
allright thanks, now it is an update available for obs maybe that fix it?

No, i'm still running the same version of obs 24.03. What i did was run obs without admin rights, so like you normally do and i also turned of game mode in windows. That basically fixed the problem for me. Just ended my stream after 1:45hours, so its all good now.

Hi, everything suggests that you have to run OBS as Administrator, not with Game Mode. But developers could explore all the possibilities.

1:45 hrs isnt enought for the test... my crash was after 2hrs of streaming.

Hey guys!!! I have been having the same problem. So from what I’ve found is there’s a issue with the nvenc. only way I got streamlabs to work with that encoder was to turn my FPS in game to 80fps and still was ass. Did a lil more digging and changed my encoder to x246 @6000 bitrate did a actual stream and no laggy preview window on slobs also was back to running 240fps in game no issue. And stream looked good

Ryzen 5 2600
Asrock ab350m
Gtx 1660
16gbs 3200 MHz
Hope this helps you out

Had the same problem and as stated before, using NVENC is the problem. You have to switch to x264 with a preset that your system can handle for the game to not crash OBS. Was the only fix I could figure out.

That is the temporary solution as nothing else I have attempted has worked unfortunately. You have to wait for Infinity Ward to fix the game as this is entirely their fault.

Infinity Ward has to make the game works, and the game works.. the problem with OBS has to be fixed from OBS devs, not Infinity Ward imho.

That's why this issue is only with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare right? :/

If you pay attention to when the crashes actually happen it's when the game freezes hard, almost like a kernal crash on your GPU, when the game is transferring to different states (into gameplay or out of gameplay). This effect happens whether you use OBS or not. It just triggers the crash on OBS because there are multiple things using your GPU at the time and one of them happens to fail due to the bottleneck/freeze.

Ehm, nope.. my game never crashed, only OBS crash (freeze) with an encoder error.

Never said your game crashed. lol

You can be nitpicky all you want though, it still isn't going to change the fact that currently the only solution is to switch to x264. Sorry bud.

Yeah but the problem isnt Infinity Ward, that is what am saying. You can even try with v23 of OBS and you can notice OBS dont frezze anymore... so, the problem is this version of OBS.

There has to be something wrong with the game or with the GPU drivers and this game.

I never...NEVER...get that error in any other game...and it pretty much always happens for me when in the menus between games.

Another example of the game causing the freeze. If you watch youtube on your second monitor while transferring out of a match causes the whole game to freeze and no way to recover. It's the game dude.
