Encoder overload. recording stops mid way, awful/0 frame rate

I've been doing a weekly podcast with a friend for over a year. For the first time today something happened where when he stopped the recording, he saw an error that said something about encoder overload. And when he hit the stop recording button, the button said stopping recording for quite a while.

When we reviewed the footage. There was only about 15 minutes of video vs the I 45+ minutes that we recorded. On top of that, while the audio sounded fine, the frame rate was basically worse than a slide show. The first few seconds was real time but it started to die off fast. We aren't live streaming.

The only thing that has changed with his setup was a new microphone a couple of weeks ago. Otherwise his hardware is the same.
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
32GB Ram
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

So that really sucks, but we decide to try recording again. And basically we got the same problem

Having to record a second time really kills some momentum because you can't genuinely recreate certain reactions.

We're feeling pretty defeated after experiencing this after trying to record a second time.

So here we are a week later trying round 3 and sure enough we got this problem again. I guess thankfully we saw the warning in the lower left of OBS within the first 10-15 minutes so we didn't completely waste our time like before.

Encoding overloaded! Consider turning down video settings or using a faster encoding preset.

But what's crazy is , he's been recording day trading every morning without any issues.
And the only thing different between when he's recording his trading and what we're doing on this particular episode we're trying to record is that he's using Microsoft Powerpoint.

4th time, we tried putting the power point presentation to microsofts online power point website and within the first minute of recording we saw the Encoding overloaded error.

1. They may not seem applicable but do the things in the Analyzer such as disabling HAGS and running OBS as Admin.
2. Lower the resolution of your Insta360 Virtual Camera/NEW WebCam from 3840x2160 to 1920x1080 or lower. It should be close to size that it's being displayed at on the canvas.
3. Display, Window and Game Capture all interfere with each other. 1 type per scene. Fix Podcast 2 speakers, PODCAST With Chart, Interview and PODCAST With X. You should only use Display Capture if you need show Windows stuff such as the Desktop or Start Menu or as last resort if Window and Game Capture don't work. People that are trading should know how to use Windows.
4. In the Output Recording Settings, set Multipass to Single Pass, disable Look-ahead and Adaptive Quantization. Those all use additional GPU which can contribute to encoder overload and rendering lag.
5. If still having issues, create a new scene collection with 1 scene with 1 source #nofilter Restart OBS and try again. If still having issues, post a new log of that.

The encoding settings should not be causing encoding lag but you may want to address these stale plugins if you're still not getting traction.
