Question / Help Encoder initialization failed!

Good evening everyone.

I am completely new to streaming, and have downloaded OBS because, well, it's the best option. But when I looked up some guides for how to use it, they all start by previewing stream. However, when I try this, I just get a pop-up box reading "Encoder initialization failed!". The stream won't even start. Not even a black screen. Cheers for all your help!

TL;DR: I get a pop up box that says "Encoder initialization failed!" when I try to start streaming.

Cheers :)

You might have nvenc on, sometimes that can happen with nvenc. Try using x264 instead. Should be listed in the encoder settings in 0.613b.

So there's no solution to the problem, just another method...

Except my CPU isn't the best so I can't use x264 to stream and have a 780Ti so NVENC is beneficial. I've used it to stream and it's been fine for months, and all of a sudden it no longer works. Please tell me there's a way to fix this.

You updated to the latest nvidia beta drivers? They screwed with nvenc and can even give problems with game capture in some cases. Currently its recommended to use the latest stable drivers, not the beta.

Ah, alright. I updated to the Beta drivers the day they came out as I was hoping it'd make CS:GO perform better. Am installing the latest stable ones, thank you.
