Question / Help Elgato's official software + OBS at the same time?

I think this is the last thing I need to figure out about streaming. I want a reliable way to use Elgato's "Game Capture HD" for it's amazing flashback recording and OBS's streaming flexibility. You get 'device in use' if you just try to have both using the actual hardware at the same time. So the only option is OBS's Window Capture mode. That only works with video if Aero's turned off. Problem is my PC outright CRASHES if I move anything during that. So, anyone know some alternatives? A plugin or tool perhaps? I tried XSplit only to find out everything's behind a paywall.
