Bug Report Elgato won't play sound through OBS anymore

My last stream was Sunday. Since then there were apparently some OBS updates, which I applied. Now OBS isn't getting any audio from my Elgato. The audio works fine when I open the Elgato software.

You can see in this screenshot when I configure it that the Elgato software is picking up the audio, but there's nothing coming through OBS or the desktop through OBS.

Moments later I clicked "Done" on the Elgato configure and then "Ok" in OBS and it crashed.

This is a bug in 0.635b, if you output to the desktop rather than to stream only it'll crash. I'm going to upload a fix soon.

"Output to stream only" works. I've tested that and it works fine. Still, I'm going to upload a fix for "output to desktop" as well.

Well, I've tested it and it doesn't work for me. I tried for 3 hours yesterday. Reseated all my connections. Reinstalled my Elgato software. Tried other consoles. Rebooted the computer several times. Tried "Output to stream" and "Output to desktop". I think I took the screenshot at a bad time because that was the first time I tried output to desktop. I've been using output to stream since day 1 with my Elgato (about 6 months now). The crash is what made me finally decide to go back to the previous version of OBS and find that it works just fine. Any suggestions for other things I can try?

I decided to uninstall OBS and try a fresh install of . 635 and it's working great again!

Yesterday I had used the "Update" button inside of OBS and went from .633 to .635, so I'm not sure if I just got a bad update or it was something else completely random. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

Thanks!

Not an isolated issue. I just uninstalled and reinstalled because I was having this issue and it didn't fix it. Whenever I use OBS and my Elgato on recording, previewing, or streaming, not only can my stream not hear it but I can't hear it in my headphones as well. Completely takes my sound. Log: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/f4c59183f6ae9e66e4f0#file-2014-09-19-2053-51-log In the middle of my stream the sound cut off for my viewers and headset. It starts at about 7 minutes. http://www.twitch.tv/tbestiacgames/b/570261238 I would love you forever if you could help Jim. :)

Technically this would have to be a different issue, TbestiaC. Where do you have your headphones plugged in?

I unfortunately do not know. I was thinking you were meaning that this was something related to OBS, though it appears to be something related to the capture device or console. If your headphones are plugged in to the TV and your TV's plugged in to the output of the elgato or PS4 then that issue definitely doesn't have anything to do with OBS itself, it would have to be something related to the capture device or console. OBS can only really affect what's happening on the computer. Also, it's only reading from the elgato. It isn't programming the elgato or anything, it just asks for the transmission and it receives the video/audio from the elgato, and that's pretty much it.

The only problem is that the when I start previewing, streaming, or recording on OBS the sound stops. When I stop any of that the sound comes back. I have no idea why but I guess I'll figure it out.

I am having a similar issue now with sound and the ElGato HD. I have a Blue Yeti mic, which works fine, and have my headphones plugged into that. I can hear my alerts go off, I can hear all of my other comp sounds as well. The game sound does stream and record fine, just can't get it to go through the Blue Yeti Audio Out port really.

I have gone into the Properties of the "Video Game Capture" Source, as well as the settings for OBS.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks again,
Ginga

Edit: If it is possible to get console sound through to the Blue Yeti that is. Also, I have tried plugging speakers, and same headphones, directly into TV/Monitor that the ElGato and PS4 are plugged into.
