Question / Help Elgato Stream Deck "launch OBS" message

Can't get the Stream deck to connect to OBS.
I am running out of ideas and websearch skills. So far I have...

1. reinstalled both in the correct order (twice)
2. run both as admin
3. installed both in the same programs folder
4. checked the release numbers match in plugin.
5. found plugin in OBS

windows 10 (some kind of reasonably flash gaming PC)

if there is something I have missed i would love to hear about it.

Have you restarted your computer?

The stream deck shouldn't need any extra plug-in for use with OBS. Just have OBS installed, install the stream deck software, restart, and go.

Sure have. Have a look at items 1-5. These steps all include plenty of restarts. There is a plug in that stream deck installs into OBS and I have been advised to check if it is there and its version number. Which I have (items 4 qnd 5).
