Question / Help Elgato Quality compared to OBS

Hi, I have a question about my capture card (Elgato HD). Do i have better quality when i record from the Game Capture HD program from Elgato or whenever i have it as a Video Capture Device source in OBS? Whenever i look at it looks like the Game Capture HD program has better quality. If the quality is indeed better than the quality of it in OBS, i might consider adding a window/monitor capture source in OBS and just screen-record the Game Capture program.

I uploaded 2 videos for you guys to see which quality is better. In the first video you will see the quality of the Game Capture Program only
In the second video you will see the quality of the Elgato added as an Video Capture Device source in OBS.

First video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OdxGorddNQ
Second video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLQ09y2Mypc

Tell me how I can improve the quality and whether i should use the Game Capture program or just add it as a source in OBS. Or maybe screencapture the Game Capture program in OBS using monitor/window capture.

Thank you.

There is not a reason that I can think of in which capturing a preview will have better quality than direct feed through capture. If anything, it is adding in more places and things that can go wrong.

Uhh, in the Game Capture software you are recording, in OBS you are streaming, BIG DIFFERENCE. . Also, the Game Capture HD uses a hardware encoder, and you are probably capturing at a high bit rate. Streaming usually uses software encoder, so its harder on your PC, and bit rate is 10x lower.
