Question / Help Elgato not outputting any audio to OBS

I've been trying to set up OBS to work with my Elgato but have no game audio. In the source properties I have "Elgato Game Capture HD" selected as the audio input device, tried the other options and nothing changed. I hit the configure button and it doesn't show any audio coming through at the bottom (the green bars that show audio levels). I have tried uninstalling everything and changing USB ports/cables.

Also it seems that the only sound I get is feedback that echos and gets louder.

I'm having the exact same issue. I have a mic connected to my PC and my audio is synced and sounding beautiful, unfortunately I can't get any audio from the XBOX to OBS. I know it works as I can use the game capture software that comes with the elgato and it sounds great (the video doesn't compare to the quality I get from OBS, though). I've done a livestream via Justin.tv with the elgato and had no problems getting audio from HDMI input to the stream.

Anyone with a suggestion? It seems like a setting in OBS that has me stymied, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks!

So with a lot of searching and trial and error I stumbled across the fix for my problem. I figured I'd report it here since I hadn't seen it clearly articulated anywhere else.

Very simple, but not very intuitive fix. I right-clicked my Game Capture HD in 'Sources' and under audio I selected '(Use Device Audio)' and *not* 'Elato Game Capture HD'. I also selected 'Output to stream only'.

Since the device I selected at the top was the Elgato Game Capture HD, "Use Device Audio' makes sense. The thing that makes it confusing is that Elgato is also a selection under audio and selecting it will not catch the game audio.

The only thing I need to do is figure out how to play with the settings to get the correct balance, but I'm on my way to success. OBS is *way* better than the Elgato Game Capture software for me. Elgato's native software had terrible video quality while OBS is beautiful. Unfortunately for me, Twitch.tv was down tonight, so I couldn't dial it in the way I want. Next step? Figuring out how to overlay a few graphics and a webcam image.

Great software, thanks for all of the time and effort put into it.

I also found that if you cannot hear any noise once you are recording through OBS you need to go to your Xbox/ Ps4 's settings and change the audio output as hdmi.

I also use a Astro Mixamp with mine so for others who do use this astro product don't worry about the other settings in xbox just leave them.
