Question / Help Elgato HD Device issue

OBS is able to find the Elgato HD Device and use it as a global source, but I can't change the configuration at all, and when I try to run a preview stream, the preview says there is no signal. If I'm running a preview stream, I can go in and look at the configuration and see that it's trying to find an Xbox One when I'm using a Playstation 3, but it doesn't allow me to change it (as the device is currently not being detected). As soon as I end the preview stream, the Elgato configuration menu closes and the configuration button in the global devices menu no longer works.

I've used the Elgato device with its native software and it works with that, but I'd like to use it with OBS so any help would be really appreciated with this, thanks!

The configuration? What do you mean? If you mean change it from 720p, that's not currently possible due to a problem with both OBS and elgato. Elgato has partially unimplemented directshow filters, and due to a design flaw in OBS, OBS can't really properly use it. They refuse to fully implement their directshow filters, but I can't do anything more with the current version of OBS to make it fully support the unimplemented directshow filter.

http://i.imgur.com/k8QEq5z.png Here's what my settings look like in OBS trying to read the Elgato device. The configuration button doesn't do anything when pressed and everything else is left to its default. However, when I run a preview stream and the Elgato Source is selected, I can go in and look at the settings that look like this http://i.imgur.com/0e6YUJr.png. I had to change the console it was looking for in the Elgato-specific software the first time I ran it there, so I assume it's a similar issue but I can't get into the configuration menu when it can find the device and when it can't I can't change any of the options.

I'm running Windows 8.1 and here is my log file from when I ran it for those screenshots http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=kLpdZ04b.

I can take screenshots or list out all of the other settings I have right now in OBS to figure out if it's something there that is the issue. Since the Elgato works with the native software, I assume something isn't right between OBS communicating with the Elgato and I'm not sure what steps to take to troubleshoot that.

Yea, the configuration section doesn't do anything, and it is indeed because of OBS, not elgato. This is due to a design flaw. It will be fixed in a few months when the newer version of OBS comes out.

Oh okay, thank you for getting back to me on this! I'll try to figure out an alternative for now but I'll be eagerly awaiting the OBS update that fixes it. Thanks!
