Question / Help Elgato HD and webcam issue

So I'm using the Elgato HD Capture Device and OBS to stream from PS4 and XB1. I have a webcam setup and I get an echo when using the mic on the webcam and capturing sound from the Elgato during streaming. I've fixed this issue by switching the webcam audio input to Elgato HD Capture Device and it works fine. The issue I'm having now is that when ever I go to stream and the webcam is still using the Elgato for audio input, it will say "No Device..." as the source coming from the Elgato and OBS will freeze and crash when trying to adjust the webcam properties. I know if I remember to switch the webcam to disabled after streaming things will work fine, but it just seems like a little bit of a pain right now to have to remember to switch the audio input on the webcam every time I stream. Is there a fix to this problem or will I just have to make sure to change the audio input on the webcam every time I start streaming?

I can post a log if necessary.

Hi Cartboy,

If the Game Capture HD is outputting its audio to the stream, and the webcam is outputting audio to the stream(As a mic), there should be no echo, unless, UNLESS, you are using speakers, not headphones, then in that case there will be an echo. However, you may be able to sync up the webcam and the Elgato audio to the point where its not noticeable.

I'll post a log when I get onto my desktop..

@Shrimp I guess it's not really an echo, more of my voice is getting picked up from the console and the webcam mic and then being played over the stream which people have said sounds like an echo. It seems to only happen when I'm using the XB1 because when I'm on the PS4 the audio an video delay match up with the gameplay and webcam so there is no "echo" or at least not one I've noticed. I don't think it's a echo from the speakers as I have those turned off while streaming and have the stream and computer on mute just to be safe. I'll try tweaking my delay some more as maybe it's not quite synced up with the elgato but it just seems odd that it's more noticeable on one console than the other when they are both coming through the same source.

I guess my initial curiosity about this issue comes from why the Elgato acts as if there is no input source if I have the webcam audio set to "elgato hd capture device" within OBS.
