Question / Help Elgato Gamecapture HD Resolution

Hello, i've recently purchased an Elgato Gamecapture HD and read somewhere that, instead of setting your base res as native and downscaling to 720p like we do for PC streaming, we need to set our base res to 720p if that's what we want to capture at on the Elgato?

Is this true? Or can i just use the same global video settings when i add the Elgato as a video source and change it on the Elgato settings itself?
