I recently got my Elgato game capture so i could stream videos online and post videos to youtube.

For some reason, when i use my Elgato with OBS, my computer performance takes a huge hit, and whatever game i am playing, will become almost unplayable. I have downscaled the resolution and set it to 30 fps on the elgato and OBS but i am still having no luck!

I can stream games using Game capture and i get a better performance than using the Elgato with OBS.

My PC Specs -

AMD HD 7990 6 GIG
Corsair vengeance 8gig RAM
Intel i5 3570k 3.4GHz overclocked to 4GHz
60 GIG SSD for OS
120 GIG SSD for Games
1TB HDD for other applications and older games

Internet speed is currently : http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3187160304

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Unfortunately a capture card is only useful if you have two PCs, one to play games on, and the other one to capture and encode the output from the first one. A capture card won't help in a single PC setup, OBS game capture is more efficient.

Yep. About the only thing a capture card is good for in a single-PC setup is if you want to play on a console and stream that. (At which point it's not really a single-PC setup any more, given you're playing on the console)

Would a laptop work then? Basically anything so the computer which is currently playing games on isn't doing anything
