Question / Help Elgato Capture Freezing?

Hi, I've tried searching through and found nothing on this. Upon opening OBS and starting my stream, I find most often my game capture just stops. No return, no dropped frames, just stops. It almost makes OBS freeze and unresponsive when I try to stop the stream. Anyone have any ideas on why it does this and maybe how to get it to stop? Maybe just some general ideas would be nice if nothing else.

May we see a log file? Did you wait at least a minute or two after it becomes OBS unresponsive?

It says I have weak CPU, which I do. AMD is a shitty processor. It confused me, however, because I actually had a full stream one night. Sure, there were hiccups and dropped frames, but I lowered my FPS and bitrate to compensate for bad CPU/GPU.

I'm just confused as to why it freezes. I've waited upwards of 10 minutes for it to recover and it never did. Does Elgato just not play well with OBS or is it all in my laptop?

Hm, I'm genuinely not sure what's going on here. If OBS locks up in any of its internal threads it's designed to crash so we can see where it locks up, so I'm definitely curious about what's going on here. Does it only happen with certain capture sources?

Yep. It only crashed with the Elgato capture. My face cam would run fine, my follower notifications were excellent, but the capture would freeze. I could continue the stream with face cam, but if I tried to end the stream or close OBS then OBS would freeze as well.

It confuses me because the Elgato software, the Game Capture HD, would stream fine (though kill my connection) and whatnot, save for some audio issues, and wouldn't ever freeze.

I'd blame it on my computer but I'm unsure because I suck at being computer smart. x)

Is it at all possible that this is a USB bandwidth issue between the player cams and the elgato? Have you tried only using the elgato in OBS without the webcam?
