Elgato 4K X Freezing + FaceCam Mk.2 Flickering & More...

I've had this issue for some time, and I'm now determined to get to the bottom of it - I'll be updating this thread with any new information I get back from Elgato (who I'm in contact with) and also CalDigit (the manufacturer of the hub I use) - here's a list of what I use, what I've tried and maybe it'll help you, if you have the same issue.

Setup:
MacBook Pro - M2 Pro - 2014 (MacOS 26.1 - 25B78)
Elgato 4K X (v25.02.10)
Elgato FaceCam Mk.2 - v2.00.0350 (IQ:1.00.00.24)
CalDigit TS4 Hub (v.39.1)

I'm currently running a test of Elgato Studio with the capture card plugged into the CalDigit and it's working fine 30mins so far - so this would excluse the CalDigit, and the usb-c to usb-c 3.2 cable I'm using...

Elgato Studio v.1.0.3 (877)

I've tried OBS, Streamlabs OBS, and even Meld Studio (fresh install - adding just 4K X + FaceCam Mk.2) selecting all methods for capturing video sources depreciated or not - they all freeze/flicker the 4K X, and or FaceCam Mk.2.
I removed all files within Application Support, so there was no previous hint of other versions within MacOS.

OBS v.32.0.2
Streamlabs OBS v.1.19.6 (1.19.6)
Meld Studio v0.9.7.5-3eOc06685

What I don't understand is...when I run the FaceCam Mk.2 direct into the MacBook, it runs fine. Suggesting that it would be the CalDigit Hub, and I've tried the camera in multiple ports within the CalDigit Hub to the same flicker effect - but...
I'm running the Elgato 4K X also into the CalDigit Hub and it's working fine as long as it's being captured by Elgato Studio - suggesting that it isn't the CalDigit Hub???

I've tried both the 4K X and FaeCam in a all available ports, to the same effect.
So is this hardware, or a software issue, as both outcomes are pointing in two separate directions??

I have found another post of someone offering a Python script you can run which will watch the source of your 4K X and if it freezes, the script will refresh it - this might be a workaround, but doesn't solve the issue over all - link here

Any further information I find - I'll post here, or any information you might have on this would be greatly appreciated

Update...

I've done one more fresh install of OBS, and since then I've had no Elgato 4K X freezes, and no FaceCam k.2 camera stutter/glitch.
I have no idea which of the previous plugins or devices plugged into my CalDigit TS4 dock might have been the issue, but I'll list them all and it might help someone else - if you have similar plugins or setup to me.

Previous OBS Plugins + Settings:
Draw
Media Controls
Move Transition
Source Clone
Stream Deck (for OBS Studio)
Vertical Canvas
Advanced Scene Switcher
Aitum Multistream
Composite Blur
Retro Effects
Stroke Glow Shadow
Source Record

I also had my Elgato Prompter plugged into the CalDigit TS4 (which has now been removed)
I no longer run the official Camera Hub app from Elgato (I control all camera settings within OBS)
I also use to run a stinger transition which used a green screen .mp4 file.

OBS Current Plugins + Setup:
Source Clone
Stream Deck (for OBS Studio)
Vertical Canvas
Composite Blur
Retro Effects
Stroke Glow Shadow

As stated above I no longer have the Elgato Prompter plugged in.
I've removed the .mp4 green screen transition
I only used the Elgato Camera Hub app to set the camera to run in HDR, zoom, exposure, and noise reduction (the FaceCam Mk.2 has a chip which saves those settings in the camera, so no need to open the app after that)

and with those changes and eight plus hours of running OBS I've not had one stutter or freeze.
I'll update this thread with more information, if or when things changed...good luck
