El Gato Capture Card HD60S+ and OBS Studio (eternal “one moment...” image instead of game)

Hello,

i recently bought a new El Gato HD60+ , along with a relatively expensive gaming computer, and have been following multiple YouTube tutorials with setup. I will be honest, and say that this is all new to me but I am really putting a lot of time into trying to learn how to stream to Twitch.

After several YouTube tutorials for OBS Studio and 4K capture Utility setup, I can’t for the life of me figure out what the issue is...4K capture utility is picking up the game with perfection but I can’t get my game to show when I setup the video capture card under source. It will show mywebcam perfectly but will either display a “one moment..” window under the el gato capture card option or be a black screen?I’ve tried several things now. Let me know if you need more info. Thank you!

Please reach out to Elgato Support about this issue.
The "One moment..." screen is generated by the capture card (indicating that OBS is receiving its output) but if that screen does not disappear in favor of the input video, it's a problem with either the source or the capture card itself.

Generally though, the Video Capture Device source shouldn't need any adjustment other than selecting your capture card, in this case. If you put in a custom resolution or change any of the settings, that can cause it to blackscreen, if you're requesting an option set that the cap card does not support. (Very few YouTube tutorials have actual good information, most of them are parroted or outright misleading 'secret sauce' that usually ends up being actively harmful.)
