On obs studio when i put an mp4 video file into my editing software (sony movie studio platinum 12) the audio is not there.
when i play the raw file (in films and tv) i can hear it, however, in the software i can't. any help appreciated.

The problem would be in sony not obs.

Although if you saved directly to mp4, that's likely part of the problem. There are precisely ZERO good reasons to save directly to mp4.
Save to FLV or MKV and use the built-in remux function afterwards if you REQUIRE an mp4.

with those file types it doesn't even show up for me to open it in my software.

As convenient as saving directly to mp4 may seem to be to you

Record to FLV or MKV. If you record to MP4 and the recording is interrupted, the file will be corrupted and unrecoverable. If you require MP4 files for some other purpose like editing, remux them afterwards by selecting File > Remux Recordings in the main OBS Studio window.

change your output format to flv
Then when you're done recording, go to File -> Remux recordings, choose your flv, and run the remux.
That will give you an mp4
