Question / Help Editing settings during preview causes crashes

I recently decided to add a green screen. I've been YouTubing how to set it up. In the video, it shows the users being able to adjust their chroma settings while the stream preview is running. When I try to do this, it crashes my OBS. So what I'm saying is, if I try to adjust the settings of my webcam while the stream preview or streaming is happening, it causes my OBS to crash. Any cause for this?

Are you using the "configure" button? Right now there's actually a bug while using the device-specific "configure" button in the device properties. It actually probably won't be fixed until the rewrite unfortunately due to some design flaws in OBS1, it's a really difficult situation at the moment. I'm actually rewriting all that code soon.

No. I right-click on my webcam that's under "Sources" and select properties. Once I do that, OBS crashes. And its good to know you guys are aware of the problem and are trying to fix it.

I found the problem. But it creates another problem. The problem I'm currently having is because I'm running OBS in 32 bit and not 64 bit. If I use 64 bit, that problem goes away. However. Using the 64 bit, OBS wont read my capture card. So yeah. Lose/Lose situation.

So the problem only happens when you use 32bit? For the chroma key? Do you get a crash log at all? I'd really like to see it.

When I try to adjust settings while previewing the stream in the 32bit version, OBS crashes. If I try to adjust settings while previewing the stream in the 64bit version, it works.

And where would I find the crash log?

When OBS crashes it asks you if you'd like to see the crash log. They're stored in %appdata%\obs\crashDumps (which you can copy/paste in to start/run or windows key + R)

Hm, okay, so could you explain what specifically happens?

Hi Jim,

I get the same error here.

I also use 32bit version cause Capture Card wont show in 64bit. Tried v0.636b and v0.635

If you turn on stream or preview and rightclick on any source -> properties OBS Window goes to "not responding".

Only solution is to close OBS. It happens every time so I can reproduce it.

My scenes are only an webcam and Live Gamer Protable Stream Engine (wont work in 64bit that why 32 bit).

Greetings

and keep up the great work!

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread here, but I'm also having this exact same problem. Only with the 32-bit software (which, due to the LGP Stream Engine, I have to use) and no crash logs. I have also tried OBS MP with the same results. There is just something about the 32-bit versions that cause the program to freeze (requiring a force quit) when trying to edit device settings. It makes adjusting my webcam (whose settings seem to reset every single time I open OBS) nearly impossible. Until native support for the LGP actually works, however, I have to write down the settings I used and hope that I can get the sliders in the same position each time.
