Question / Help Editing Scenes Not Currently Shown

I run a local tournament for fighting games, SSBM specifically. During the tournament we have to switch players constantly and switch their names on the stream. Is it possible to switch to my scene of the commentators but edit the names of the players on screen on a different scene without switching to it? Thanks in advance.

But you can get the names from text files and edit them before going to the scene using them

Can you explain further? I'm not sure I'm understanding. I tried putting them as global sources and editing the global sources while in another scene but upon returning to the scene it won't take effect until you click on the global source in the scene and hit properties and ok.

Setup a scene where player1 gets his name from player1.txt somewhere on your hard drive
Same for player2.. player2.txt

When you want to change the name you just edit the matching file and put the new player name in

No problem. Just note that the files must be saved in UTF8 (notepad has a dropdown list to select it)

You could also do it with images if you wanted.. same procedure but instead of editing a text file, you replace a image
