Echo on all audio sources?

So when I play my videos back on VLC media player, there is an Echo, I have looked up threads, looked up YouTube videos on how to fix this until I come across Audio settings on VLC and changed it from Stereo to Mono, and that fixed the issue.
When it is on stereo, there is a very slight echo on literally everything, Music, My voice, the game etc.
The thing is, is this normal? I have to change my Stereo mode to Mono from Stereo every time I play back my files to get rid of the Echo, will there be a disadvantage on this? I'm not quite sure the difference between the two, and why its fixed it on Mono and echoes on Stereo.

An echo means that you either have two copies of the same thing with different delays, or you have a feedback loop.

The unwanted copy could be anything:
  • An app that does "something" with a live audio input, and gives a live audio output
  • A mic that picks up a speaker
  • Etc.
The feedback loop could also be anything:
  • An app that does "something" with a live audio input, and gives a live audio output
  • A mic that picks up a speaker
  • Etc.
The only real difference is where the second, unwanted path is fed from. Poke around and see what you can find.

The most common cause for a feedback loop in OBS, is the Monitor being sent to the same device that a Desktop or Output Capture source picks up. But you have the Monitor Off for everything that it decided to show you, so that's probably not it. Uncheck the "Active Only" box to see everything and make sure.

THAT is weird! Can you post a short recording that shows the problem?
Well.. turns out its just VLC, something must be enabled on VLC to be doing it, I just listened to my same recordings on Media Player, and put them onto Sony Vegas and no echo what so ever..., I spent half my day yesterday and today trying to sort this. Cry

VLC is not supposed to do that either, at least not by default. I wonder if you got some weird settings in there. It does allow you to process the audio within itself, so maybe one of those is turned on?

Im honestly not sure, just I know I opened my video with Media player, I sound fine, no echo. Opened with Sony Vegas, I also sound fine..? Open with VLC again, echo is there. I did change channels under audio settings on OBS to Mono, when testing out, but it still has same issue on VLC, only time I can stop VLC from doing the echo is if I change to Mono in VLC itself instead of Stereo...

trouble shoot the audio playback then restore it . .
