earbuds with inline mic do not work with PC setups since its a 4 prong 3.5mm jack. typical speaker systems use a 3 prong jack which ignores the mic and just uses left, right and ground instead.
I'm sure there are adapters out there, you'd need 2 male ends with 1 female end 3.5mm 4 prong to 3.
