Question / Help Duel Xeon E5430

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to configure a budget friendly gaming rig for my son. As a graphics card I'm look at the R9 270. For the CPU I was looking at an AMD FX6300 but I have now noticed some HP workstations on the second hand market with attracctive prices. These systems feature a dual Xeon E5430 processor with anywhere between 8 and 16gb ram.

Assuming the same graphics card, anyone willing to hazard a guess how this would perform with OBS?

probably a bit better than a i7 970 which is an 6core hyperthreaded to 12 threads cpu

since the Xeon E5430 is only a non hyperthreaded quadcore but in this case a dual cpu meaning a real 8 core so it will probably be a bit better but its also clocked at lower speeds.


keep in mind the i7 970 can barely do proper 1080p streaming cause the cpu architecture does suck quite a bit

hard so say... for gaming only on a budget sure why not ... if you plan to stream and are on a budget then go with an xeon e3 1230v3 if you are on a hardcore budget buy whatever cheap quadcore cpu and a gtx 750ti and nvenc to stream but the achieved quality isnt the best
