Hello!

So a couple of weeks ago i bought the Avermedia Extremecap U3. I had aloooooot of trouble setting up everything but at the moment everything is working, but not as good as i want it.

FIRST PROBLEM: The audio input from the gaming pc is very low but in my headphones its high. When i listen to music at a low volume in my headphones the stream cant hear the music at all. I really need to crank the music up for the stream to hear. I have noticed when i have no sound at all at the gaming pc the volume bar on obs(on the streaming pc) is halfway up.

SECOND PROBLEM: A hissing/high-pitched noise when you turn up the volume on the stream (very annoying).

Alright now i'll try to explain how everything is set up (Paint skills)

Past broadcasts to see/hear the problem:

Will this solve both problems? And will it work if i put this in with the Y-splitter? http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SNI-1-3-5-3-5-mm-Isolator/dp/B001EAQTRI
Or will i still need to really crank up the volume to be able to stream out music to the stream?

Thanks in advance!

can you use HDMI output? or for PC to Pc setup do you have to do it that way?
I've tried using HDMI but i could not get it to work. Im using a Usb soundcard (Asus Xonar U7). Dont know if this is causing the problem but i could not manage the stereomix to work, thats why i dont use HDMI audio. And i dont want to use VAC because i dont want any delay on my sound.

you might just turn up the volume on the gamings PC then on your headphones turn it down to your comfort level.

If its to low (or to high). you'll either have to increase gain (which could cause hissing or background noise).

set your audio out to around 80% on your gaming PC which should be ideal vol level

Well thats the problem.. I cant increase the volume on my gaming PC anymore. Its already to loud for my ears :(

I was curious if you figured out the problem? I have almost the same problem, I see that in OBS for the U3, when you go to configure, you can change the audio inputs. I think the default is the S/PIF and there is also a LINEIN.

Since I am using the component input for the audio from my gaming pc and I have switch it and I have to do that every time as OBS doesn't seem to remember.

The easiest way to mitigate this issue is by plugging your headset into your gaming PC. Run line out on your streaming rig to a line in on your gaming PC (This is so you can hear notifications and music [inferring that you are doing so] for your stream).
At which point you can then adjust the volume levels of both if needed.

An example: My setup has 3 PC's involved (this is because I my wife and I dual cast), but is essentially the same as just one box does all the streaming. My PC has a TV with line out going to my PC line in and and I listen via integrated sound card. This allows my capture card (HDPVR 2) to carry sound to the stream (that falls on a "deaf" sound card that OBS can "hear"). You avoid feedback doing something like this and you wind up with the best of both worlds. If you need me to elaborate further I can.

The streaming PC is about 4 ft away and the volume is pretty low, not too low that I can't hear some alerts.

My ultimate goal for this phase of my setup is to be able to get my Avermedia Extremecap U3 audio and video sorted out. The video wasn't really a problem since that is done with the HDMI out from my gaming pc to the Avermedia Extremecap U3 device,

However, the audio was a mystery for me, since I have my gaming pc defaulted so that I can hear it, the HDMI was not sending any audio.

My solution was to use a 3.5mm "Y" adapter and split the audio and this worked, but there was a slight buzz/hum that could be heard. I was able to remove the noise with a hum eliminator and now it sounds great.

I think that once I get this working and get a process down pat, it that I will introduce a mixer into the fold so that I can better control the audio channels.

As it stands now, I can stream/record a game on the streaming pc with separate audio channels for the game and my commentary.

Thanks for the input.

Does your HDMI monitor have output for sound, ie speakers and line out? If so you can do what I did.
