Hello, so i have searched for so long now and i still am not ablethat to find a solution so i decided to ask for help here.
Here is the issue:

I have 2 PC's 1 for Gaming 1 for Streaming

PC 1: Gaming PC
- 1 Screen 144Hz
- GTX 1070

PC 2: Streaming PC
- 1 Screen 60Hz
- Avermedia LGX 550
- OBS Studio

Now the issue happens on my Gaming PC:
Here is the story:

I connect an HDMI cable from my GTX 1070 that goes into the IN port of the AverMedia capture card and then that is connected to my streaming pc. Everything works fine upto this point.

I then go on my gaming pc and under displays it shows the Avermedia "virtual display" which is the capture card, I trun that display on under my Nvidia Control Panel and then i CLONE it with my main display this allows me to send the image of my gaming pc to the capture card which is then sent to my streaming pc.

EVERYTHING is good upto here still.

The issue starts once i load up a game, let's say fortnite. When the game loads in fullscreen it will lower my screen res to 1280x720 and my Hz to 60HZ and it looks horrible.

I cannot even upscale the resolution. I select 1080p but it doesnt allow it to change.

From what i can tell it's something i need to configure because i think once windows loads up a game in fullscreen it assums that my avermedia fake screen is my actual screen and it takes up those settings.

Yes my main 144Hz screen is set as my primary screen so thats not the issue.

Any ideas?

Am using latest build of windows 10
All gpu drivers are upto date
Avermedia drivers are upto date.

Thanks.

Hopefully someone had this issue and knows how to fix it because its driving me crazy!

A workaround i found was to start the game first and then duplicate the screen, that works but the instant i tab out the game it will change the res again... so it's not really a fix but more of an annoying workaround.

I found the fix! Finally!!! Here is how i fixed this issue in case anyone else ever has this issue:

Step #1 Right-click on desktop -> display settings
There select Custom Scaling, even though your default scaling might be set to 100% it will not always be forced, so set custom scaling to 100 and hit accept, after that you have to restart.

Step #2 VERY IMPORTANT:
Open Device Manager (Right-click start button -> Device manager)
Then go under "Monitors" and find your capture card and either "Uninstall it" which you have to do every time you restart your computer, or if you don't want to have to do it every time simply click on it and "Disable Device"

This should allow you to run games on fullscreen without issues!

Hope this helped!

Can't wait to try this. I've been running out of options. I too have the Avermedia card and I haven't been able to stream or record because of it. I guess most of it is because of having to clone (and running 144hz on 1 and 60hz on the other).

I also have thought about trying to use an HDMI splitter so that maybe it won't detect the Avermedia (on the gaming PC) and maybe eliminate the issue. May try that as well to see if that works.

Also I noticed that the "Native Resolution" of the Avermedia is 720p and I can't figure out how to change that. I'm thinking that may be the underlying issue. You can see that in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Yes the avermedia shows up as 720p. I set custom scaling and disabled the avermedia in device manager like proacid said to do and that fixed my issue. Before my screen would flicker from 1080 to 720 and back to 1080 but it would give some weird resolution issues. Especially on fortnite it would load as 720p in the middle of the screen and once I did those steps everything works good now. Other then you know the screen tearing haha which there is nothing you can do about with 144hz monitor and 60hz capture card.
