Question / Help Dual PC Stream Audio Help

I have recently purchased a Avermedia Live Gamer HD and have placed it in a PCIe slot in my streaming PC. I have installed all the latest drivers for the card and firmware.

Now my setup is as follows: HDMI from graphics card on gaming pc to HDMI IN on an HDMI splitter - > another HDMI cable is going from the HDMI out port #1 on the splitter to my main monitor -> and then another HDMI cable is going from the HDMI out port #2 to the HDMI in port on the Avermedia card.

Now I am able to get video perfectly when I add a Video Capture Device however I am following this guide: (http://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/1988680-broadcasting-with-two-computers)
and on step #2 I am not seeing the Avermedia Live Gamer HD as a playback device in my sound devices. This is my MAIN problem, I am not sure why the Avermedia is not showing in my sound playback devices. It isn't even showing on the streaming PC.

Both PC's are running Windows 10 and have the latest updates and graphics drivers.

When I plug in a 3.5 mm cable from the audio out port on my gaming pc to the audio in on the avermedia I am able to get sound however it is inconvenient to do it this way when I see that other people are able to follow the guide linked above with no problem.

Any help is appreciated!

Is the avermedia sound device disbled in ur windows mixer?

Some splitters force the EDID from one or another device (but not both) since your PC will need to see the audio bit in the EDID info in order to use it as a sound device.

I would try and swap the hdmi cables (the cable to the monitor and the one going to the avermedia) from the splitter to see if maybe that works. if that doesn't than the splitter is removing the audio bit from the EDID info and audio cannot be used.

Other than that. use the hdmi in and out from the PCIE card instead of a splitter.

It also depends on the device your splitter "sends" to the PC if the audio device will be called Avermedia, or something else (your TV for example). If you are using an NVidia Video card it will have NVIDIA High Definition Audio as the device name, on an AMD graphics card probably AMD High Def.

It could have the name of your connected TV or a name supplied by the splitter as mentioned. But that will be the device you need to select in the listen to section twitch shows to send the microphone input over. Then you can capture it using your LG HD in the streaming PC.
The same device can be selected in the VAC Repeater for your desktop sound.

Hm I tried swapping the cables with several others and just going from the gaming card straight to the Avermedia in port. Still not showing in the playback sound devices. I even checked to see if it was named something weird. I even saw some other people having this issue in the comments on a youtube video related to getting audio to work properly when using a dual pc setup.

I feel like it should just "work" according to several videos and guides I have seen.

I tried to set the microphone to listen to the ASUS tv and I got horrible feedback I also tried to route the audio to the streaming pc through VAC but it was extremely low in OBS.

your audio volume on the mixamp should be 80% at minimum, then lower other volumes of your headset. this output volume can be raised with VAC a bit, but the source of the volume needs to be balanced high enough. once you get the output to a decent level, adjust the input volume on the stream PC then go from there.

Again, with relaying, just make sure the source of the input is high enough and adjust other volumes to compensate for the raise volume.

Ok i'm almost there! What I did was I set my primary playback device on my gaming pc to the ASUS monitor and set my microphone to playback through the same monitor and I have HDMI sound through OBS on my streaming pc!

Now the only problem is that the only way i can hear what's happening on my gaming pc is to have my headset plugged into the streaming pc.

I can hear what's going on through OBS. But I can also hear my own voice which makes it kind of hard to talk.

Is there any way to set a different primary playback device on the gaming pc so I am not hearing myself?

leave primary on the mixamp headset and reverse the idea OR do it properly by using VAC or similar program. @Jack0r might have a guide to do this

I have the primary set to the mixamp and in audio repeater i set the wave in to the mixamp and the wave out to the ASUS monitor. Some sound is coming through to OBS but it is really low. I am not sure how to raise it through VAC. @Jack0r

can you raise the base volume of the mix amp as I said before? like 80-90% would be ideal.

U can split ur line out with an 3.5 y cable. but this will reduce the volume overall because u have to feed two devices with one soundcard. But it will work.

What u need:
1x ycable 3.5 male to 2x 3.5 female
1x 3.5 male to male

Connect the y cable to the line out from the gaming rig. Connect ur headset to one female 3.5 of this ycable.

Connect the 3.5 male to male cable to the free female jack and put it into your line in of your streaming rig.

Unfortunately, this will only work with outputs, not inputs like the mic. But u can try to split the mic cable from ur headset too. Since the volume will reduce too, because u feed here two cards with one device too, i dont know if the volume will high enough to be heared on booth machines. U can try it with a similar 3.5 ycable like this

Another way is to work with an externsl hardware mixer. Ive done that with my two pc setup in the past.
Line out from the gaming rig into a line in of a behringer xenyx mixer.
Rec from this mixer into line in from the streaming rig.
Mic was connected to the hardware mixer for stream.
Headset mic was connected to the gaming rig for teamspeak.
Another soundcard , in the gaming rig was for music on the stream. Line out from this card to line in on the mixer.

The temporary solution I have found is having the default playback device on my gaming pc as the asus monitor and having my usb microphone plugged into my streaming pc. As of now i'm using a microphone on a webcam for my gaming pc just for teamspeak and such.

I will look into VAC more to see if I can get everything set up the way I want but as of now streaming this way is very doable and fairly easy.

A big thank you to everyone for all their help! I really appreciate it!

Just for future reference I will describe the current setup for anyone who may have this problem in the future.

1. HDMI cable goes from the gaming pc graphics card to the in port on an HDMI splitter. Another HDMI cable will go from the HDMI output 1 on the splitter to the in port on the Avermedia card. Plug another HDMI cable into the HDMI output 2 on the splitter and plug it into your primary monitor. Make sure you install the latest drivers and firmware for your avermedia card along with your graphics card.

2. After that open the RECentral application on your streaming pc and click "capture" on the left under "bulletin". Then click "wizard".

3. Under platform make sure "Other PC" is clicked. Make sure under video source and audio source that HDMI is selected.

4. Open OBS on your streaming PC and add a video capture device and select the Avermedia capture card.

5. On your gaming PC make sure the default playback device is your primary monitor. And you can use any microphone as your default recording device.

6. At this point whenever you preview your stream on the streaming pc you will hear whatever is happening on your gaming pc. You will HAVE to have your headphones plugged into your STREAMING PC in order to hear your gaming pc audio. (Currently looking for a workaround to this)

The easiest way is probably to use Voicemeeter on your Gaming PC. You set the Voicemeeter VAIO as your default playback device in Windows, then you can manage everything from Voicemeeter.

As Hardware Input 1 you can select your microphone, as A1 select your Headset/Speakers and as A2 the HDMI Audio Device. For "1" make sure only "B" is active and for Virtual Input "A" and "B" should be active. As shown in the image.
That will send all desktop sound to your headset and desktop sound + microphone over HDMI to your capture card where you can grab it on the Streaming PC.
