Hello, I'll keep it short. I'm wondering if I should go with a 2 PC steup for streaming with a capture card or if there is some cheaper alternative while still getting 1080p 60 fps streaming.

The capture card I'm looking at his the Elgato hd 60 because I'm looking to get the highest quality possible (1080p 60 fps).

The CPU of the streaming pc would be a 2500k + 8 gigs of ram, with the capture card being split between the gaming pc's monitor.

after buying a new motherboard/cpu for my main computer and the splitter + capture card this would come to about $1000.

Just wondering if there are any alternatives to get similar quality. Pretty sure there aren't but before I make a big purchase I'd simply like to do my research, so if anybody has any input or suggestions please feel free.

An i5-2500k is not going to be anywhere even close to enough to encode 1080p@60 at Veryfast. 1080p@60fps is ridiculously heavy. Even most recent-generation i7 setups are not going to be able to swing it smoothly without a lot of technical streamlining.

Additionally, it needs at least 6000kbps bitrate to not look like crap, which means that unless you're a Partnered caster with quality options, very few people will be able to watch you, and you run the risk of being auto-banned by Twitch as a denial-of-service attack.

Additionally, the HD60 is still running over USB 2.0 and will pre-compress video. It'd be a much better idea to grab a Yuan SC512 from SabrePC for about $200, which is an internal capture card without the bandwidth bottleneck.

I thought that the idea of the capture card was that it took huge load off of the cpu, no? If an OC'd 2500k + a $200 card won't be able to do it, what will?
