I've been at this for days. I've watched Youtube video after Youtube video and read guide after guide but I just can't get it to work.

I have both PC's set up and running fine. I have OBS on my streaming PC and it is showing my gaming monitor via capture card just fine. The problem I'm having is with sound. There either isn't any or at best I can get my mic working but my viewers can't hear the game, music etc.

My gaming rig has the mic and speakers (headset) attached to it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more info I'll give it gladly.

Try connecting your headset to the streaming PC or your capture card if your able to

How are you checking if you're getting sound or not?

Thanks for the reply Harold. I'm either watching the sound levels in OBS or I'm streaming live to Twitch and asking for feedback from my regular viewers.

The closest I got to getting it set up was while trying to get music to play for both myself and my viewers. I changed my capture card to be the default playback device and my viewers could hear the music but I lost all sound. It was essentially just transferred from myself to them.

Heading to work now but I'll try and reply from there.

I haven't actually tried connecting my headset to the streaming PC. I'll try that when I get home in the morning.

I'll try connecting my mic and headset to the streaming PC and then transfer the music/game sound to the streaming PC.

UPDATE

Ok, I got home this morning and hooked up my headset and mic to the streaming PC. I can get sound for both myself and my viewers now but it means that I need to have both PC's running and OBS open just to hear anything on my gaming PC. This is obviously not the correct way to set this up but I guess I can get away with it for now. There is definitely a slight delay between the visuals coming through the capture card and the sound I can hear as well.

I'd really like to get this set up correctly though so I'd still appreciate any help I can get.

EDIT: This is the guide I was following to get this set up originally. For whatever reason it just would not work for me - https://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/1988680-broadcasting-with-two-computers

I could get as far as step 3 and then it just felt like there was something missing from the guide. Using Audio Repeater and setting Virtual Audio Cable as the 'wave in' just didn't seem to do anything. I feel like there is more to this part that isn't explained in the guide.

You have to configure your Stereo-Mix properly that the device is listening to the right Source. Your Capture Card should be able to capture the Souns through HDMI make sure to use the HDMI Device on your streaming PC.

btw what Capture Card do you have?

Thanks for the reply Alpinlol.

I'm using the Avermedia Live Gamer HD capture card. Got some feedback from my viewers today with the current setup I have working. They said that the sound delay was not noticeable in their end. It would seem that although I can see I slight delay between my movements on my game monitor and the same movements on OBS everything is being synced before being broadcast.

It can be a little off putting seeing those movements happen a fraction of a second slower in the corner of my eye but it seems to be working fine. I didn't get chance to check the local recording before I left for work. I'll check that when I get home on the morning.

Basically I have managed to get this all working in a very long winded way but out of pure curiosity I want to streamline it.

The biggest problem as it stands is that I can't hear anything on my gaming PC unless I have my streaming PC on with OBS open.....which is obviously not ideal haha.

I'm going to play around with it again tomorrow following your advice about the Stereo Mix and see where I get.
