Question / Help Dual PC -- No Audio [Solved}

Howdy,

I have a Dual PC set up (gaming machine & dedicated streaming machine).

Game Video & Audio is being sent to & received by the Streaming Machine: Confirmed

My mic is hooked up to a UR28M (hardware interface) which is hooked up via a USB 2.0 cable to the streaming machine running DSPMixFX (software mixer): The Software Mixer & OBS hear the Mic just fine & I can hear it through my headphones which are hooked up to the UR28M (hardware interface).

I want the sound on my gaming machine to go out to the UR28M (hardware interface) & into the streaming machine running the DSPMixFX (software mixer): The DSPMixFX (software mixer) can hear the audio just fine, but OBS does not.

Just to be clear, the Mic & Gaming Machine sound are both going through the UR28M (hardware interface) & into the Streaming Machine via the same cable: Both are being heard by the Software Mixer.

When I plug the XCAPTURE-1 (capture card) into the Gaming Machine the Streaming Machine picks up the video in OBS.

OBS does not 'see' the audio.

My first stop was the Sound Settings on the Gaming Machine. Once I plugged the XCAPTURE-1 Card up the sound would disappear from the Mixer. I could visually see the sound was being sent over the XCAPTURE-1 Card to the Streaming Machine, but the mixer listens to the USB 2.0 input from the UR28M (hardware interface). OBS did not see (hear) this sound.

I removed the XCAPTURE-1 Card from the Sound sources on the Gaming Machine to try & force it to use the Speakers which are actually set up to the UR28M (hardware interface). Again, the DSPMixFX (software interface) on the Streaming Machine can see (hear) the sound, but OBS still does not.

Under OBS' Settings > Audio > Desktop Audio Device I have tried both Default & Line (Steinberg UR28M): Neither result in OBS being able to see (hear) the audio which is being heard by DSPMixFX (software mixer). Again, the mixer software which can see (hear) the sound (game sounds, youtube audio etc) is running on the same machine as OBS.

Thanks,

David

[Solution]

PS - Thanks for everyone who viewed this thread. After going away & coming back to try again, I finally got it solved. It was something I had read a few months back, but had lost in my memory due to all of the things between then & now.

This was the solution: http://www.addictivetips.com/window...gh-hdmi-speakers-simultaneously-in-windows-7/

Which was setting up Windows to send audio out over both the 3.5mm & HDMI...very simple & while the link states Windows 7 I can confirm it works for Windows 8.1 as well.
