Windows 10 Pro Version 21H1
OBS Studio 27.0.1 (64 bit)
See Laptop Troubleshooting [OBS]
I have a laptop with an Intel CPU with integrated GPU and a NVIDIA GetForce GTX 960M.
The UEFI BIOS will not let me disable the Intel GPU.
According to Laptop Troubleshooting [OBS]
in Windows 10 Graphics Settings, I should set the radio button for OBS Studio app to
High Performance - GPU: NVIDIA GetForce GTX 960M
Why? OBS Studio and any Apps it uses must use the same GPU.
Games need to run with NVIDIA in High Performance.
Hence, OBS must also run NVIDA in High Performance.
So what should I do for Browsers?
There are many places to set the GPU for the browser.
Which of these should I set?
How do they interact?
Windows 10 Graphics Settings has a default of "Let Windows decide".
So how does Windows make a decision?
Or should browser be set to Power Saving or High Performance?
OBS Studio | Settings button | Advance tab | Sources |
"Enable Browser Source Hardware Acceleration" checkbox
I assume this should be checked.
But how does it fit into which GPU is used?
Properties for Display Capture
According to Laptop Troubleshooting [OBS], set it to
Capture Method: Windows 10 (1903 and up)
How does this relate to which GPU is used for what app?
I can move a lot of various apps onto and off the Display Capture screen.
What should those app have for their Windows 10 Graphics Settings?
Thank you for the feedback.
