Question / Help Dropping frames like crazy

I'm trying to stream the PCSX2 Emulator, and my frames are just dropping like crazy. It happens usually when there are scenes from the game playing. My download is 45 mbps, and my upload is 5.5 mbps

Settings:

Encoding:
Quality- 10
Bitrate- 3000
Buffer- 3000
Audio- AAC 192,000

Video:
Custom- 1920x1080
Resolution downscale- 1.50 (1280x720)
FPS- 60

Advanced:
Everything is checked here.
Preset- Fast
Custom Encoder settings- fast&ex:crf:18
Buffer size: 1460

What could be causing the problems where my frames would drop like that?

Post a log file. What twitch server are you using? Also why are you entering xsplit presets into the custom encoder settings field?

Ah, sorry. I thought those custom prefixes were used for all streaming in general.

By the way, the frames only drop when there is heavy animation on the game. It does not drop frames when on a black screen or little animation such as text in game shows.

Also, when animation shows the server status fluctuates rapidly all the colors. Green, red, and yellow. Continuously.

Looks like you might be suffering from the frame drop code- it's not entirely optimal right now and will sometimes frame drop unnecessarily. Raising the send buffer is a workaround (you should normally never do this though as 1460 is fine). Updates are coming to the frame drop code to hopefully fix this.

Alright man. I really like the program so far. The interface is better than Xsplit, and there are a lot of problems already that Xsplit has that this does not. I hope you can fix the problem. I will be definitely be using this program if you can correct the problem. Thank you for all of the information.

Hey, those x264 settings won't work -- you need to do it in the format of [command]=[value] to get it to work. Network code is currently being looked at for potential optimization. For single player games, I would recommended using a high send buffer size for the time being, such as 32120

PCSX2 is also quite processor intensive, so keep that in mind. Maybe run some of the speed hacks in the emulator if they don't break too much. What are all your PCSX2 settings?

Try changing your Preset to Very Fast. If that doesn't help try dropping the fps to 30. It seems like you're trying to push out alot of quality on top of an already CPU intensive emulator :-(.

I had the exact same problem before, but it has completely stopped once I changed my video capture from "Software Capture" where it captured the window of my game to the new "Game Capture [experimental]" mode.

Try removing the software capture of the game you are using and adding a new game capture source. Only thing is that it has to be the same bitrate as the things you want to capture (use 64-bit OBS for a 64-bit game, use 32-bit otherwise).
